Patty Melt
Patty Melt
Ingredients
8 slices Turano 100% Rustic Grain
6 tbsp. unsalted butter, divided
1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
Salt and black pepper
1 ¼ lb. lean ground beef
5 dashes Worcestershire sauce
8 slices swiss cheese
Directions
To make the caramelized onions, heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally for 30-40 minutes, until very tender. Season with salt and pepper.
To make the patties, get started when the onions are half way done, about 20 minutes. Combine the ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper in a large bowl and mix until just combined. Divide into 4 equal parts and make large thin patties. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the patties and cook for about 3-4 minutes, until just cooked through.
To make the sandwiches, place a slice of swiss cheese on a slice of bread. Top with a patty followed by a scoop of the caramelized onions. Add another slice of cheese and then top with the remaining slice of bread. Repeat for the remaining sandwiches.
Heat a large skillet over and melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the sandwiches (you can work in batches if you like) and cook for 2-3 minutes or until well browned and the cheese has melted. Flip the sandwiches and cook on the other side until well browned. Serve and enjoy!
