Bratwurst with Beer Cheese and Bacon
Ingredients
For the brats:
β’ 5 of your favorite bratwurst brand
β’ 1 bottle of your favorite beer
β’ 1 sweet onion, sliced
β’ 1 Tablespoon butter
For the Beer Cheese Sauce:
β’ 1 Tablespoon butter
β’ 1 Tablespoon all purpose flour
β’ 1/2 cup milk
β’ 1/4 cup beer
β’ 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
β’ 1/2 teaspoon horseradish
β’ 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
β’ 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
β’ 1/4 teaspoon salt
β’ 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Additional ingredients:
β’ 5 pieces bacon, cooked and crumbled
β’ 1 Tablespoon fresh minced chives
β’ Turano Gourmet Brat Rolls
Directions
β Melt 1 Tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onion and brats; cook approximately 10 minutes, turning occasionally to brown all sides.
β‘ Add beer to pan, reserving 1/4 cup for the sauce. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 15 minutes, until beer has reduced and brats are no longer pink inside.
β’ Prepare beer cheese sauce by melting 1 Tablespoon butter in a small saucepan. Stir in flour and seasonings and cook, stirring, 1-2 minutes. Add milk and beer all at once. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheese and horseradish.
β£ Place brats in Turano Gourmet Rolls, then top with beer cheese sauce, crumbled bacon, and minced chives.
