French Toast Sandwich


• 3 slices Pane Turano
• 1 cup milk
• 2 eggs and 2 egg whites
• 1 teaspoon nutmeg
• 1 tablespoon sugar
• 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
• 1-2 pats butter
• 1 banana
• 1/4 cup strawberry jam or preserves
• Powdered sugar
• Maple syrup


• Mix milk, egg and egg whites, nutmeg, sugar and pumpkin pie spice in a bowl. Melt butter in medium skillet on low heat. Dip slice of Pane Turano into egg mixture, coat completely and let excess drip into bowl. Place in skillet and cook until brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side, flipping once. Repeat process with each slice of bread.
• Cut slices of Pane Turano in half. Assemble three sandwiches. Spread preserves on bottom slice of bread, layer banana slices on top and cover with another piece of French toast. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup. Serve.
