Sausage with Sautéed Apples & White Cheddar Cheese

Ingredients
• 4 bratwursts or sausages (pork, chicken, or apple sausage all work)
• 4 Turano Gourmet Brat and Sausage Rolls
• 2 medium apples, thinly sliced
• 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
• 1 tbsp butter
• 1 tsp olive oil
• 4 - 6 slices sharp white cheddar (or 1 cup shredded)
• 1 tsp fresh thyme or ½ tsp dried (optional)
• Dijon or whole grain mustard (optional)
• Salt & pepper to taste
Directions
① Grill or pan-cook sausages over medium heat until fully cooked and browned (internal temp: 160°F for pork/bratwurst). Set aside and keep warm.
② Sauté apples & onions, in a skillet over medium heat, melt butter with a splash of olive oil. Add sliced apples and onions (if using), season with a pinch of salt and pepper, and cook for 6–8 minutes until softened and slightly caramelized. Add thyme during the last minute of cooking.
③ Toast the buns and melt the cheese, in each bun, add two slices of cheese. Place in the oven on broil until the cheese is melted.
④ Assemble the rolls, place a sausage in each bun. Top with a generous spoonful of sautéed apples/onions and finish with mustard. Enjoy!
