Stuffed Mozzarella Meatballs

Stuffed Mozzarella Meatballs

Ingredients

2 slices of Pane Turano
1 lb. ground beef
1 egg
1 tsp. garlic, minced
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tbsp. Italian seasoning
1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. black pepper
3-4 mozzarella cheese sticks (string cheese)
1 can of marinara sauce

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Toast the Pane Turano and make into bread crumbs. You can use a food processor, or break into small pieces and put the bread in a plastic bag, using a rolling pin to make the breadcrumbs.

Chop each cheese stick into ½ inch pieces. Place on a plate and chill in the fridge or freezer until ready to use.

Add ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper to a bowl. Mix the ingredients with your hands until everything comes together.

Remove cheese from the fridge or freezer. Scoop out about 4 tablespoons of the mixture and roll into a ball. Gently push a piece of mozzarella into the middle of the meatball. Roll the meatball in your hands to cover the hole where the mozzarella was pushed in. Place in a greased cast-iron skillet. Once all the meatballs have been made, cover in marinara sauce and bake for 30 minutes.

Once finished and cooked through, sprinkle with parsley for serving. Enjoy!
