Breakfast Sausage Bread Boats
Breakfast Sausage Bread Boats
Ingredients
• Turano Soft Sub Rolls
• 1 pound breakfast sausage hot or mild variety
• 1 small onion finely chopped into ¼ inch pieces
• 1 red bell pepper chopped into ½ inch pieces
• 1 green bell pepper chopped into ½ inch pieces
• 1 cup cheddar cheese freshly shredded
• 6 eggs
• ¼ cup milk
• 1 tablespoon fresh Italian parsley(optional)
Directions
① Preheat the oven to 350°F. Slice the Turano Soft Sub Rolls in half lengthwise and carefully hollow it out, leaving about an inch of thickness for the bread crust.
② Cut or tear the removed pieces of bread into roughly 1-inch pieces and place them in a large bowl.
③ In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook and crumble the sausage. When it is about halfway down cooking, add the onions and bell peppers and continue cooking until the vegetables are tender.
④ Add the sausage mixture to the bowl with the Soft Sub Roll chunks. In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs and the milk. Pour the eggs over the sausage and bread and add the cheese. Stir to combine.
⑤ Fill the hollowed-out halves of bread with the sausage mixture. Bake for 28-34 minutes, until the eggs have set and the loaves are golden brown.
⑥ Remove from the oven and let rest 5 minutes before slicing and serving warm. Sprinkle with parsley, if desired.
