Jalapeño Poppers with Bread Crumbs

Jalapeño Poppers with Bread Crumbs

Ingredients

• 12 jalapeno peppers
• 6 oz cream cheese softened
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 4 oz sharp cheddar shredded
• 2 tablespoons green onions finely chopped
• 1/4 cup Pane Turano breadcrumbs
• 1 tablespoon butter melted

Directions

• Preheat the oven to 400°F.

• Bake Pane Turano in oven for 10 minutes.

• On a wooden board, grind the toasted pane turano with a rolling pin until it turns into breadcrumbs.

• In a bowl mix cream cheese, garlic powder, cheddar cheese and green onions (if using).

• In a separate bowl, combine Pane Breadcrumbs from earlier crumbs and melted butter.

• Wearing gloves, slice the jalapenños in half lengthwise. Using a small spoon, scoop out the seeds and membranes.

• Fill jalapenos with the cheese mixture. Top with crumbs.

• Place on a baking pan and bake 18-22 minutes or until golden.

• Cool 5-10 minutes before serving.

• To assemble the sandwich: on one slice of bread, spoon a thin layer of marinara on top, then add the mozzarella, slices of chicken, basil leaf, then more mozzarella (optional). Top sandwich with another slice of bread. Repeat until all assembled.

• In a clean skillet, add butter to the pan and turn the heat to medium. Once the butter has melted, place two or three (or as much as you can fit) assembled sandwiches into the skillet. Let the cheese slowly melt and the bread get toasted. Repeat until all sandwiches are complete. Slice, serve and enjoy!
