French Toast Board

Ingredients

French Toast
• 1 Turano Rustic Italian Loaf
• 2 large eggs
• 1 1/2 cups milk
• 2 tsp. vanilla extract
• 3 Tbsp. sugar
• 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
• 4-6 Tbsp. butter

Breakfast board ideas
• Berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries)
• Syrup
• Jams or jellies
• Butter
• Bacon and/or sausage
• Scrambled Eggs or Hard Boiled
• Chocolate Chips
• Cinnamon and Sugar
• Powdered Sugar
• Whipped Cream

Directions

① Leave the Rustic Italian overnight uncovered on a baking sheet, or preheat oven to 250°F and toast for 20 minutes, flipping halfway.
② In a large bowl, whisk the eggs. Then whisk in the milk, vanilla extract, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg until combined and no streaks of egg remain.
③ Drop a piece of the Rustic Italian into the custard and let sit for 20-30 seconds on each side. Repeat with remaining bread slices.
④ Melt 2 Tbsp. butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the soaked pieces of Rustic Italian to the pan and cook 3-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Don’t overcrowd the pan. You will need to work in batches, adding more butter to the pan as needed.
⑤ Place the French toast onto a wire rack on a rimmed baking sheet and place in the oven at 250°F while you cook the remaining French toast.
⑥ Assemble the board. Remove the French toast from the oven and arrange down the middle of the board. Place bacon, fruits, syrups, etc. all around the French toast.
