French Onion Soup Burger

French Onion Soup Burger

Ingredients

• 4 thin beef patties (about 3–4 oz each)
• Salt & black pepper, to taste
• 2 slices Gruyère cheese (or 1 per patty if you prefer)
• 2 Turano Brioche Rolls
• ½ cup beef au jus or gravy
• 1 tbsp butter, for toasting buns
• 2 tbsp crispy onions (premade)
• Optional: fresh thyme for garnish

Caramelized Onions:
• 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
• 1 tsp olive oil
• Pinch salt
• Optional: ½ tsp brown sugar

Directions

① Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add onions and a pinch of salt (and sugar if using).
② Cook, stirring occasionally, for 15–20 min until golden brown and sweet.
③ Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Season patties with salt and pepper. Cook patties 2–3 min per side until nicely browned.
④ During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with Gruyère cheese and cover to melt.
⑤ Spread butter on cut sides of Brioche Rolls. Toast in a skillet until golden and lightly crisp.
⑥ Place one patty on the bottom bun. Add second patty. Top with caramelized onions and crispy onions. Spoon a little warm au jus over the top patty (optional but authentic French onion flavor). Top with the bun and garnish with fresh thyme if desired.
Serve and enjoy!
