Grilled Onion Burger
Ingredients
SPREAD
• 1/3 cup mayonnaise
• 4 tablespoons pickle relish, drained
• 3 tablespoons ketchup
• 1 teaspoon sugar
• 1 tablespoon white vinegar
• 1 teaspoon yellow mustard, optional
BURGER
• 3 Turano Brioche Rolls
• 1 pound 80/20 ground beef
• salt, to taste
• black pepper, to taste
• 3 American cheese slices
• 1 large yellow onion, cut into whole circular slices
Directions
① In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, relish, ketchup, sugar, and vinegar. Set aside.
② Create 3 portions of the ground beef. Gently flatten the patty into a circle to desired thin or thickness, making sure to not mix or mold it too much. Sprinkle with salt and pepper on both sides. Set aside.
③ Cut the onions into whole large circular slices. Use toothpicks to push into the sides of the onions so they stay together as they cook.
④ Place the toothpicked-onions on a grill over medium to medium-low heat. Cook for a few minutes until you see the edges turn golden. Flip over gently and cook the other side. Once browned on each side, remove them from the grill. Once slightly cooled, remove toothpicks.
⑤ On a grill over medium-high heat place down the patties, It will take about 2-3 minutes for the patty to get a nice brown crust. Flip over and add a slice of American cheese on top of half the patties. Let it cook for about 1 more minute.
⑥ For the Buns, place the top and bottom bun inside down on the grill and toast until golden brown.
⑦ To assemble the burger, spread sauce on the bottom bun, top with grilled onions, burger patty, more grilled onions and finish with the toasted top of the bun. Enjoy!
